Prevention
Vaccinations
"An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure."
We strongly believe in that old adage. To this end, we offer monthly vaccination clinics where all cat and dog vaccinations, as well as Heartworm and Feline Leukemia testing, are fifty percent off of our regular prices.

The clinics usually run the first Sunday of each month (except on holidays) from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Like many of our services, they are on a walk-in basis.

Heartworm
Heartworm disease is quite prevalent in northern California, affecting both dogs and cats. We carry monthly preventives that help protect your pets from this deadly parasite. Heartworm preventive is a prescription medication and annual heartworm testing is required for dogs, so be sure to ask your doctor what is required for your pet.

Fleas & Ticks
The warm summer months can trigger the return of fleas and ticks. While this problem is more apparent in warmer weather, these parasites can be present year-round. This is an especially important note for animals that suffer from flea-allergy dermatitis.
Our hospital currently recommends year-round preventative medicine, helping to prevent flea allergy dermatitis and the spread of diseases spread by fleas and ticks. On your next visit, please ask the staff to help determine which medication is right for your pet.

Spaying & Neutering
Dogs and cats can be altered as early as five months of age. Having your pet spayed or neutered early will prevent unwanted pregnancies, help with some behavioral issues and lower the risk of certain health problems including mammary tumors and prostatic disease.
We perform our elective surgeries Monday through Friday. We do ask that you call ahead for an appointment. At that time we can any questions you may have regarding the procedure. Following the morning check-in exam, your pet will remain in the hospital for surgery and recovery. We do require an overnight stay for females after the spay procedure.
