Redding, CA & the Northstate AreaRedding, CA is nestled at the northern tip of California's Central Valley. We are approximately three hours north of Sacramento, California's capital, and five hours north of San Francisco. We are also about three hours east of the beautiful Northern California coast, which boasts tall redwoods, wind-swept coasts and excellent deep-sea fishing. The Pacific Crest Trail, which stretches from Southern California to Washington state, passes through this area and is just one of the many attractions of the costal region. To the east of Redding lies Lassen National Forest, with many wonders of its own, including Lassen National Volcanic Park. The park features campgrounds, nature trails and native wildlife and many educational opportunities to learn about the natural history of the area. To the north lies Mount Shasta, with great opportunities for skiing and snowboarding in the winter. Not too much further across the Oregon border are the towns of Ashland, home of the Ashland Shakespeare festival and Bend, with its many renowned ski facilities. Surrounding Redding are Shasta and Whiskeytown lakes and the Sacramento and Trinity rivers, providing easy access to watersports activities such as skiing and salmon and trout fishing.
