FLEAS: YOU MENTIONED TOPICAL MEDICATIONS?
Yes, there are three monthly, topical flea preventive medications currently on the market that we sell and recommend.
Please remember that while these medications are considered safe when used as directed, individual sensitivities, while rare, may occur after using ANY pesticide product for pets. Please check with your veterinarian before using any pesticide product on or around aged, debilitated, pregnant or nursing animals, or if your pet is on other medications.
The three medications that we recommend are Advantage® by Bayer Corporation, Frontline® by Merial, and Revolution® by Pfizer Animal Health. Each of these medications has been thoroughly tested for safety and efficacy. We see significantly fewer reactions to these medications than we do with the other medications on the market.

Treats: Adult stage fleas
Minimum Age for Application: puppies - 7 weeks; kittens - 8 weeks
Effectiveness: One treatment prevents further flea infestation for at least four weeks.

Treats: Adult stage fleas, flea eggs, and some ticks (brown dog ticks, American dog ticks, lone star ticks, and deer ticks)
Minimum Age/Weight for Application: puppies - 8 weeks and 11 pounds; kittens - 8 weeks, no weight limit
Effectiveness: For treatment of fleas, Frontline Plus will work for up to six weeks in cats and up to three months in dogs. For treatment of ticks, Frontline Plus should be applied monthly.
Other Notes: There are two versions of Frontline, regular Frontline and Frontline Plus. We carry Frontline Plus because it also treats the flea eggs.

Treats: Adult fleas and flea eggs, ear mites, sarcoptic mange (dogs), intestinal hookworm & roundworm, American dog tick, and heartworms
Minimum Age for Application: puppies - 6 weeks; kittens - 6 weeks
Effectiveness: For treatment of all conditions, Revolution should be applied monthly.
Other notes: Due to the heartworm preventive, Revolution is a prescription product. For cats, an annual physical exam is required. For dogs, an annual physical exam and an annual heartworm test is required.
