Salmon Poisoning Disease

Salmon poisoning disease is found in the northwestern United States and Canada. Dogs contract the disease by eating raw or under cooked salmon, steel-head or any fresh water trout in the area. The disease causes severe vomiting and diarrhea and can lead to death.

It is best to avoid giving your dog any fresh water fish and thus prevent this disease. If you witness or suspect your dog has eaten any quantity of raw fish, call us immediately so we can determine the course of treatment that would be best.
