Our Medical ProfessionalsDr. Richard N. Gebhart, DVM, Medical Director Dr. Gebhart spent his first years as a veterinarian in Los Angeles. He is a founding member of VCA West Los Angeles Animal Hospital. VCA West Los Angeles is one of the largest veterinary hospitals in the U.S. and is intimately involved with cutting edge learning, and produces many fine new veterinarians through its' Intern Program. He also helped form one of the most used veterinary computer programs in our industry today. He came to Redding in 1993 and has been a driving force in our accomplishments today. Dr. Gebhart splits his time between our practice and his other business interests. His dog's names are Sassy, and Megan. Dr. Larry D. Correia, DVM, Medical Director Dr. Correia grew up and went to school in the Pacific Northwest. He received his D.V.M. from Washington State University in 1985. Upon his graduation, Dr. Correia came to Redding to work at VCA Asher Animal Hospital. Over the years he has attended various Continuing Education courses and spent time with veterinary surgeons to pursue his interest in veterinary surgery. He is now our orthopedic and technical soft tissue surgeon. In 1996 Dr. Correia became a partner at VCA Asher Animal Hospital. Dr. Susan Tangeman, DVM, General Practitioner Dr. Tangeman graduated from the University Of California College Of Veterinary Medicine in Davis in 1988. After completing a large animal surgery internship at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, she returned to southern California to practice equine medicine. Soon she began to miss the north state and moved north to join a mixed animal practice. This led to a strong interest in small animal medicine and brought her to VCA Asher Animal Hospital in 1994. In 2003, she participated in the Don Low Practitioner Fellowship program at U.C. Davis in the ophthalmology department. Her cat's name is George. Dr. Dennis Grummitt, DVM, General Practitioner Dr. Grummitt graduated from Iowa State University in 1965 and practiced at the Berkley Dog and Cat Hospital until January 1966. He then moved to the Menlo Park Mid-Peninsula Animal Hospital where he practiced unit 1978. In 1979 he moved to Redding with his family and started Alpine Animal Hospital. Dr. Grummitt merged with the staff at VCA Enterprise Animal Hospital in November 1999. In July of 2001 he and the staff from VCA Enterprise moved into VCA Asher Animal Hospital in July of 2001. Much of the staff as well as Dr. Grummitt are still with us today. Dr. Mosette Eibert, DVM, MS, DACVIM Dr. Eibert is our Board Certified Internal Medicine Specialist. She received her D.V.M. from University of Missouri in 1993, graduating Magna Cum Laude. Advanced training included a one-year internship at Auburn University and a three-year residency in small animal internal medicine at Kansas State University. Dr. Eibert also has a Master of Science degree and is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Eibert has been on staff at VCA Asher since the fall of 1997. Special interest includes feline medicine, infectious disease, and critical care. She also enjoys working with guinea pigs, rabbits, chinchillas, and rats. Dr. Nicole Caraway, DVM, General Practitioner Dr. Caraway attended Kansas State University where she received a B.S. in animal science and completed her D.V.M. degree in May 2003. While she loves the Midwest, a desire to return to California led her to the internship program here at VCA Asher Animal Hospital. After completing our one-year internship program in June 2004, she stayed on staff, and now continues to work the emergency shift. Dr. Caraway enjoys practicing small animal medicine and surgery and has a special interest in veterinary dentistry. She also enjoys working with several exotic species including guinea pigs, rabbits, chinchillas, rats, and birds. Her hobbies include horseback riding, piano, violin, and canine agility. Her sheltie's name is Diego. Dr. Travis Howarth, DVM, General Practitioner Dr. Howarth attended Ross Veterinary University and graduated in 2000. He then completed his degree at the University of Minnesota and moved to Long Beach, CA to practice. He joined our clinic in 2005 and usually covers our emergency hours. Dr. Howarth has a special interest in emergency and critical care medicine. He enjoys travelling and motorcycling. He has a dog named Tuck and a cat named Trike. |
